In Case You Missed It of the Day: Stephen Colbert wasn’t kidding around about regaining control of the SuperPAC he relinquished of to Jon Stewart ahead of announcing his bid to explore a possible candidacy for the President of the United States of South Carolina.

On last night’s show, Colbert confronted Stewart, chasing him all the way from The Daily Show to the Colbert Report, eventually taking the SuperPAC back by force.

The reason for his insistence may have been revealed in FEC paperwork [pdf] released today, which shows that Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow — now known as “John Colbert Cougar Super MellenPAC” — managed to raise a whopping $1 million since its inception.

In a supplemental memo, ABTT’s treasurer, Shauna Polk, says she was asked by Colbert to quote him as saying the following:

Yeah! How you like me now, FEC? I’m rolling seven digits deep! I got 99 problems but a non-connected independent-expenditure only committee ain’t one!

Polk makes a point of noting that she “advised Mr. Colbert against including that quote.”
